Doctors

  • Dr Mathanki Vivekananda

    FRNZCGP
    Bio
    Dr Mathanki Vivekananda is a committed and conscientious GP who has been at Hairini Medical since Jan 2025. She grew up in Auckland and completed her medical training at the University of Auckland, then worked a number of junior doctor jobs in Rotorua and Wellington. She enjoys building genuine relationships with her patients and strives to listen, understand and support them throughout their health journey. Mathanki is married with two young sons who keep her very busy outside of work! In her spare time she enjoys a decent coffee and listening to music.

  • Dr Stefan Bek

    MBChB, MRCGP (UK)
    Bio
    Dr Stefan Bek has been part of the Hairini Medical team since 2009 and is a highly experienced senior GP with a broad range of skills and expertise. He enjoys the variety of general practice and also performs minor skin procedures at the clinic. Outside of work, Stefan is married with two children and is a keen mountain biker. He is also a staunch Manchester City supporter — so there’s usually plenty of football banter to be had!

  • Dr Eunice Kelly

    Bio
    Dr Eunice Kelly hails from Dungannon, County Tyrone in Ireland, but has happily called the sunny Bay of Plenty home for over 20 years. She is a dedicated and thorough GP who takes the time to listen to and support her patients, building strong and lasting relationships with the families she cares for. She joined the Hairini Medical team in January 2026. Eunice has two grown sons and, when she’s not at the clinic, can usually be found running around after her dog and enjoying the sunshine.

  • Dr Christine H∅yem

    Bio
    Dr Christine joined the Hairini Medical team in August 2026, having moved to New Zealand from Norway with her family. She is a highly experienced and compassionate GP who enjoys caring for patients of all ages and supporting families through every stage of life. She particularly values the long-term relationships that general practice allows her to build with patients and their families. She also has hospital experience in gynaecology, obstetrics and gynaecological oncology, as well as further training in mindfulness. She is fluent in Norwegian, Spanish and English. She is a graduated in Medicine from the University of Seville, Spain, in 2007. She has worked as a GP in Norway since 2011 and has been a Specialist in General Practice since 2017. She is married with two sons.

    Kia ora, I’m Nia Dudson, health coach for Hairini medical centre. My job is to help our patients navigate health challenges and goals with a holistic, patient centred approach. I can help you with diet, exercise, lifestyle, sleep, stress and service navigation. I work closely with the clinical team to support you on your wellness journey. My service is free, confidential and available to both individuals and whānau. No referral needed. If you are interested or have any questions, feel free to reach out.

    Ngā mihi ki a koutou katoa, my name is Margaret (Mākere). I have been a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) for three years and have 10 years’ experience in outreach and mental health nursing. I bring compassion and dedication to supporting individuals on their journey toward better health and wellbeing. Grounded in empathy, I provide practical, holistic guidance tailored to each person’s unique needs. Outside of my professional life, I channel my warmth and creativity into knitting special pieces for my beloved mokopuna (mokos).

    Chris is a highly experienced senior nurse who has been at Hairini Medical Centre since 2021. She has experience at Tauranga hospital in Women’s Health (Breast and gynaecology) and the Surgical ward prior to General Practice. She especially enjoys building whanaungatanga (holistic relationships) and getting to know our patients . Chris is a dedicated and caring nurse who demonstrates a high level of skill with her nursing abilities. Her special interest area is Diabetes and Weight management. She has recently completed her Diploma in Weight Management Coaching and is passionate about this area of health. Outside of work, she is married with five children and one grandchild. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, art, roller derby and walking.

    Jess graduated as a registered nurse in 2024 and has been working as a practice nurse at Hairini Medical since January 2026 . Jess is a kind, enthusiastic and highly capable nurse. She values the opportunity to broaden her knowledge, develop clinical skills and build meaningful relationships with patients and their families. Jess has a particular interest in cardiology and intensive care, and she is passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based and patient-centred care. Outside of work, Jess is married with two children and enjoys spending quality time with her family. She likes to keep active by going to the gym and walking her dog, as well as enjoying time at the beach.

  • Emma

    Tauranga born and bred, Emma graduated in 2015 and spent eight years working across Breast, Gynaecology and Surgical services at Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospitals. She then spent two years working as a Practice Nurse before returning to Tauranga to work in the Emergency Department. After welcoming her son in December, Emma has returned to Practice Nursing part-time here at Hairini. Her special interests include women’s health and wound care. Outside of work, Emma is married and is kept busy with their three children and their very needy English Staffordshire, Duke! She enjoys camping, spending time at the beach, photography and staying active.

Our clinic offers simple travel consultations for $90 per person. Please note that we are a General Practice and not a travel clinic.

We strongly advise that you book your travel appointment at least 4-6 weeks before your departure date. There is a lot to review and we will not have time to review any other medical issues during this appointment.

A pre-travel questionnaire is required to be submitted for each patient, at least five days before your appt. Please email your completed form to reception@hairini.co.nz.

We may require pre-payment before we order your travel vaccines. See travel vaccine price list. Pre-travel vaccines usually take 4-5 days to arrive.

Please note our clinic does not prescribe or administer the rabies or yellow fever vaccine.
